Assistant Estimator

Assistant Estimator (AE) responsibilities include coordinating with Estimators to ensure that bid opportunities are categorized and important relevant information is organized for review.  This role will be responsible for accumulating and organizing documents and bid information for Estimators as outlined below:

AE will support Estimators with bid procurement tasks, including:

  • Collection of bid documents from customers and owners. (e.g. project drawings, specifications)
  • Categorization of bid opportunities (e.g. bridge painting, tank painting, general industrial)
  • High level overview of opportunity potential.
  • Assist in any prequalification requirements for bid.


AE will assist Estimators with bid development tasks, as required

  • Quantity take-off for scope items from project drawings (e.g. Square Feet for Painting)
  • Scope summary based upon review of project specifications and other documents.
  • Highlighting of any specific requirements for preparation of bid (e.g. bonds, liquidated damages)


AE will attend all scheduled estimating meetings to maintain awareness of existing and backlog –(upcoming) bid opportunities.

Additional AE support as required and directed by Lead Estimator.

AE will report to the Lead Estimator (LE Doug Pigue) and the LE will set AE priorities on a weekly basis. This position may require limited travel to project pre-bids.
